Supervising projects is a complex activity that has to do with four constant variables: spending, schedule, time and quality. Professional PMs also try to make the organization of business processes more efficient. The majority of undertakings employ such elements as labour, money, and equipment to deliver something of value and hit selected targets. You should know that there are a number of things that are vital for efficient project management. A few of them can be found in the next paragraph:

- Goal setting and reviewing progress.

- Dealing with risk. Take any project and you will see that it involves a number of uncertainties that have to be dealt with.

- Assigning and supervising resources.

- Determining the results of the project.

- Controlling the project in terms of who is performing what and when.

- Making sure that the products of the project are up to standard.

- Handling instability. Change happens. When you start out on the project, you should forsee how it will develop with time.

- Communicating with project stakeholders.
