As for optical lithography, it eventually leads to the development of new technologies because it has come to its development limit. The Improvement of Semiconductor Systems

Semiconductors are believed to be a special kind of chemical elements. People got known about these materials in the end of the 19th century, but just in the 20th century scientists managed to get more knowledge about them. The first successful experiment was carried out by the Russian physicists in 1923. They proved that semiconductors may be utilized to accelerate fluctuations. There was no possibility to create some sophisticated devices as diodes. First transistor was created in Bell's laboratory in 1949. This event influenced the fast development of semiconductor devices. That was the beginning of the epoch of semiconductor technologies.

Stimulated emission is really a very interesting characteristic of semiconductors that has been researched for several tens of years. By means of such principles as p - n barriers and heterojunction scientists managed to design laser device in the beginning of the 60's.
